DAMASCUS: The International Bank for Trade and Finance (IBTF) was inaugurated on Sunday, making it the third private bank to set up business in Syria since January, despite complaints Damascus had to do more to attract foreign investors.
The IBTF, 51 percent owned by private Syrian investors and 49 percent by Jordan's Housing Bank for Trade and Finance, is capitalized at 1.5 billion Syrian pounds (around $30 million), a Syrian economic source said.
