 Clearing House
All members of an exchange are required to clear their trades through the clearing house at the end of each trading session and to deposit with the clearing house a sum of money (based on clearinghouse margin requirements) sufficient to cover the member's debit balance.
Assuming that this is the broker's only position in futures and that the clearing house margin is six cents per bushel, this would mean the broker would be required to have $3,000 on deposit with the clearing house.
Because all members are required to clear their trades through the clearing house and must maintain sufficient funds to cover their debit balances, the clearing house is responsible to all members for the fulfillment of the contracts.

Invest-FAQ: Five Minute Investing: Chapter 8
The other thing to keep in mind with the use of margin is that while current regulations allow us to finance up to 50% of the value of the stocks we own, such a level of leverage is almost never a wise move.
When using margin, the need to have an airtight plan and the discipline to follow that plan is doubly important.
This use of the maximum allowable amount of margin leverage also means that if the position moves against you, you are likely to lose a huge amount of your account equity, in other words the part of the account you actually own.
