Private international law often dictates whether the private laws of the home country or the foreign country are applicable to cross-border transactions.
A useful publication on developments in the international banking community is the annual Global Survey 2004 (http://www.iib.org/gs2004.pdf) that describes the regulatory and market developments in the areas of banking, insurance and securities in 37 countries and the EU.

 International Trade Law News
The U.S. contends that the domestic purchase requirement is inconsistent with several WTO agreements, including the Agreement on Trade-Related Investment Measures, the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994, the Agreement on Agriculture and the Agreement on Import Licensing Procedures.
This legislation is supported by a number of trade associations, including the Auto Trade Policy Council, the Motor and Equipment Manufacturing Association, the Precision Metalforming Association, the CITAC Steel Task Force and several major manufacturing firms.
BIS charged that the law firm committed eight violations of the antiboycott regulations by furnishing entities in Syria with information about other persons' business relationships with or in a boycotted country.

An important component of the Center’s activities is in-depth training of individuals in government, in business, and in professional practice with respect to the WTO rules, procedures, and practices.
There are many potential sources of funding for this type of program, including the international financial institutions, agencies of the United Nations, and bilateral aid agencies, such as the US Agency for International Development.
These rules and procedures, which have been developed over the course of 50 years, include the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade; separate agreements on topics such as agriculture, subsidies, dumping, textiles, services, intellectual property, and dispute settlement; and numerous decisions and declarations adopted by the GATT/WTO pursuant to these agreements.
