globalEDGE (TM) market potential indicators for emerging markets - 2005
The focus of this study is ranking the market potential of 24 countries identified as "Emerging Markets" by The Economist.
Having too many choices, marketers face the challenge of determining which international markets to enter and the appropriate marketing strategies for the countries they are planning to penetrate.
Global marketing is becoming more and more important along the years with the increasing trend in internationalization.

Emerging Market Financing An IMF Quarterly Report on Developments and Prospects
Second Quarter 2000 (pdf file 505kb): On bond and equity markets, the performance of emerging market assets and fundraising were hostage to volatile conditions on international capital markets, with the adverse external environment dominating positive country fundamentals.
Though emerging markets fundraising on international capital markets continued to moderate in the third quarter, it held up relatively well as increased bond issuance, especially from smaller sovereigns and the corporate sector, offset declines in equity placements and syndicated lending.
Though there were clear spillovers from emerging market countries where credit concerns heightened, the spillover remained contained to particular emerging markets, and overall emerging market financing held up relatively well during the second quarter.

How To Enter An Emerging Market
After two years of repeated economic crisis in some emerging markets, the largest challenge facing companies wishing to invest or trade with these regions is the reduction in available bank financing, says analyst Elizabeth Morrissey, managing partner of Kleiman International Consultants, Inc., a Washington, D.C. independent analyst of emerging banking and securities markets.
International Marketing Insight Reports (also on Globus and NTDB) are short profiles of specific foreign market conditions or opportunities prepared by the Department of Commerce's U.S. and Foreign Commercial Service, the Department of State, as well as multilateral development banks in overseas markets.
The most important risks for entering an emerging market are political and market stability.

Strategies for Entering and Developing International Markets
Another argument articulated by some multinationals is that emerging market consumers are rapidly becoming more like their affluent market counterparts, and that it is therefore sensible to offer globally standardized products and wait for the consumer to evolve towards a preference for these.
In effect, this approach assumes that the advantages possessed by these companies are the output of previous marketing executives (e.g., established brands) rather than the ability of the current marketing executives to adapt the corporations’ marketing assets and programs to new markets.
Just as the internationalization boom of the 1990s proved instructive with regard to market assessment, so there is much to be learned from the marketing strategies adopted at entry by western companies in emerging markets.
