Consumption of Fixed Capital Encyclopedia Article @ USGrant.com
Consumption of fixed capital (CFC) is a term used in business accounts, tax assessments and national accounts for depreciation of fixed assets.
Furthermore, businesses might engage in creative accounting and deliberately state their assets and liabilities held at a balance date, or interpret the figures in some other way, to increase the amount of depreciation write-offs, and thus boost their income (how this is done will depend a lot on tax law).
It is defined in general terms as the decline, in an accounting period, of the current value of the stock of fixed assets owned and used by a producer as a result of physical deterioration, normal obsolescence or normal accidental damage.

Consumption Tax, by Al Ehrbar: The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics: Library of Economics and Liberty
The one objection to a consumption tax that is based on pure economics is that it would require a higher tax rate in order to raise the same revenue as the income tax.
A consumption tax—also known as an expenditures tax, consumed-income tax, or cash-flow tax—is a tax on what people spend instead of what they earn.
Proponents of a consumption tax argue that it is superior to an income tax because it achieves what tax economists call "temporal neutrality." A tax is "neutral" if it does not alter spending habits or behavior patterns and thus does not distort the allocation of resources.

 Consumption Tax Information
A consumption tax is a tax on spending rather than on income; income is taxed when spent (consumed), not when it is saved.
Indications that a tax is a consumption tax—An indication that a tax is a consumption tax is that it exempts savings, and for businesses, it allows investment in capital (such as land, building, and equipment) to be deducted when acquired, rather than depreciated over a period of years.
Thus, for a U.S. consumption tax to raise as much revenue as the current income tax, it would appear that the consumption tax rate would have to be higher than the current income tax rates.

United Nations Division for Sustainable Development - Consumption and  Production Patterns
Many, if not most, of the problems arising from unsustainable consumption and production patterns are due to the fact that environmental services are undervalued and, thus, tend to be used wastefully, whether as inputs into the production process or at the end-use stage in households or by public institutions.
It should never be the case that policies designed to correct unsustainable consumption and production patterns in industrialized countries, are implemented at the cost of the development opportunities in developing countries.
The World Business Council for Sustainable Development has initiated a working group on sustainable consumption and production, where currently for example discussions are focussed on "consumer needs in relation to sustainable development" and "the role of the retail sector in influencing consumer choice".

NCPA - Commentary - Bush Moves Toward Consumption Taxation
Consumption taxes are less burdensome than income taxes because of the way they treat saving.
Thus, a tax on consumption will also be roughly proportional—taking the same percentage from all taxpayers.
Keep in mind that it is not necessary to tax consumption directly, through sales or excise taxes, to have a consumption tax system.

Advertising Bans and Tobacco Consumption OECD Countries
Even calculating per capita tobacco consumption from data published by the OECD over 27 years involves a certain amount of manipulation since earlier constant price expenditures expressed in, say, 1970 prices have to be converted to the 1985 prices used in the latest volume, and adult population figures for 24 countries for 27 years obtained.
Table 2 shows the consumption in the ban countries expressed as a percentage of the consumption they would have had if consumption had increased or decreased by the same percentage as in the rest of the OECD.
In this the components of private final consumption expenditure are itemised by category, one of which is tobacco, both in current prices and in constant prices.

Venezuela's total energy consumption in 2002 was 2.9 quadrillion Btu's (quads), accounting for 0.7% of the world's total.

With additional support from the Venezuelan government and the implementation of long-term development policies, as well as adoption of market-based energy pricing, Venezuela could achieve a more sustainable balance that allows for a growth in energy production and an improvement in environmental protection.
