Accountancy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Canada, there are three recognized accounting bodies: the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA), the Certified General Accountants Association of Canada (CGA), and the Society of Management Accountants of Canada (CMA).
The majority of "public" accountants in Canada are Chartered Accountants; however, Certified General Accountants are also authorized by legislations to practise public accounting and auditing in all Canadian provinces, except Quebec as of 2005.
After the corporate accounting scandals including the Enron scandal, the provincial government of Ontario passed a new Public Accounting Act allowing qualified CAs, CGAs and CMAs to audit.

Accounting scandals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Accounting scandals, or corporate accounting scandals are political and business scandals which arise with the disclosure of misdeeds by trusted executives of large public corporations.
In public companies, this type of "creative accounting" can amount to fraud and investigations are typically launched by government oversight agencies, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the United States.
More radical means of accounting reform have been proposed but so far have very little support.
